Post Four: A Song to Match My Mood

Hmmm...been thinking about this one for a while.

I usually don't get in the "mood" for a certain song. BUT this song has been in my head for the past month. It may have something to do with Lauren's upcoming dance performance to this little medley. I had to research the words and I think it has beautiful lyrics. I never appreciated the poetry as a child.

It is Kermit the Frog and "The Rainbow Connection". It is from the Muppet Movie and was an Academy Award nominated song from 1979. Good stuff.

Lyrics:
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard
and answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it's done so far.
What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing
and what do we think we might see?
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell. We know that it's probably magic.

Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

The crazy thing about this song is that I don't know if it is a sad song, a happy song, a hopeful song...maybe it is all of those. I love it, it gives me chills. What about you? Does it take any of you back to your childhood?

This is one area where we're complete opposities. I'm ALWAYS in the mood for specific songs.

I love your pick! It brings back lots of memories. I always thought it was a sad song, but you're right - it is kind of hopeful too. Good pick! :)
